Walmart Family Mobile powered by T-Mobile is voluntarily ending its participation in the Lifeline program in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon and Tennessee. Existing Lifeline customers from these states will soon be notified that Lifeline benefits will be removed from their Walmart Family Mobile service. Customers who qualify for Lifeline benefits will have the option to receive Lifeline service from another authorized Lifeline provider.

Program Information

The Family Mobile Lifeline Discount Program provides discounts on wireless service to qualifying customers. Eligibility rules vary by state; however, customers may qualify for Lifeline if they are currently eligible to receive benefits from select federal or state assistance programs like Medicaid, Food Stamps or Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8) and others. Customers who are not eligible to participate in select assistance programs may qualify based on household income.

How it works:

  1. Use our easy online tool to determine if the Family Mobile Lifeline Discount Program is available in your state.
  2. If the Family Mobile Lifeline Discount Program is available in your state and you think you may qualify, simply apply.
    • As part of the application process, you'll need to:
      1. download, print and complete a Lifeline application for your state,
      2. locate required documents including a valid government issued identification and evidence of your qualification based on program participation or income, and
      3. submit all the required documentation to Family Mobile for eligibility review and approval.
  3. Once approved, if you don't already have Family Mobile service, you can activate service by purchasing a Starter Kit at any Walmart store or online at www.walmartfamilymobile.com. You'll need to notify us of your new telephone number in order to receive your Lifeline benefits.
  4. The Lifeline discount for which you qualify and any other appropriate benefits will be applied to your monthly account within 45 days.

How much can I save?

You can save $10/month on your wireless plan, which may take up to 45 days to be applied. The actual amount and other benefits may be more than $10 and can vary from state to state.

Are there any restrictions?

Yes. Certain restrictions do apply. Eligibility depends on the area where you live, your income or your eligibility to participate in any qualifying public assistance programs, and your particular situation. T-Mobile Lifeline is not available to consumers who are already receiving Lifeline assistance through another carrier unless that consumer notifies their existing Lifeline carrier that they are terminating their service. No consumer may receive Lifeline benefits on more than one line of service, wireless or otherwise, and a household can only receive one Lifeline benefit. Consumers who receive Lifeline benefits agree to both Family Mobile specific and Lifeline program terms and conditions and other restrictions may apply.
